Charlemagne Palestine works from a highly personal universe of ritual, intoxication, and shamanism. Over the last four decades the artist has created an extensive body of experimental musical compositions, bodily performances, and, in later years, visual artworks inhabited by stuffed animals. To Palestine, teddy bears figure as powerful shamanic totems, which he fondly calls “divinities.”
Central to “GesammttkkunnsttMeshuggahhLaandtttt,” Palestine’s solo exhibition at Kunsthalle Wien and Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, is a grand piano as the sounding heart, and a new large-scale version of God-Bear Museum Model, a proposal for a new kind of museum where music and performance find a home just as easily as a painting would. Also part of the exhibition are Palestine’s extraordinary music and sound annotations, and a vast collection of works on paper, which aim to translate sound into image.
This catalogue visually documents this exhibition and features an interview between Charlemagne Palestine and Luca Lo Pinto, curator at Kunsthalle Wien, as well as an essay on Palestine’s work by Jay Sanders, curator of performance at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

'Seasons and Sacraments' was published on the occasion of Jutta Koether’s significant solo exhibitions in 2013 at Dundee Contemporary Arts and Arnolfini, Bristol. The book features full colour documentation of the two thematic series’ The Four Seasons and The Seven Sacraments, marking the first time they have been shown together in exhibition. The publication focuses on a series of paintings and assemblages created by Koether in responses to 17th Century works by Nicolas Poussin. This richly illustrated catalogue that includes essays by Magalí Arriola, Jay Sanders and Marie de Brugerolle, presents a retrospective view of the life and work of this French artist, who after emigrating to the United States in 1965, came in contact with a variety of artistic movements including abstraction, Minimalism and Conceptualism.
Guy de Cointet's oeuvre, which includes drawings, publications, performance and film, intersects many of these areas of investigation, being at once performative, conceptual, minimalist, abstract and inspired by historic events, popular culture and mass media.
Based on codes, ciphers, language, word, and image, de Cointet's work captured the essence of a foreigner's experience, one in which language could be at once an image and a code to be deciphered.
This publication includes a facsimile of the script for IGLU, a play he wrote in 1977, and its translation to Spanish.
